Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are most commonly used for the lines which appear from the nose to the corners of the mouth, known as the nasolabial folds. Used to fill out and smooth away these grooves, it gives the appearance of younger looking skin, and is often used with Botox for maximum effect. They can also be used for 'plumping' out crows feet, forehead lines, frown furrows and acne pits. A more popular dermal filler treatment is lip augmentation, giving them more volume and making them appear fuller. Dermal fillers usually last between 6-9 months, depending on the individual.

PRODUCTS

Our most popular dermal fillers at the oliver Smith Clinic are Teosyal, however depending on your requirements, we can also use Bolero, restylane and juvederm, our practitioner will advise you on the different dermal fillers.

Teosyal is made with hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring hydrating agent that we already have, however as we age, the level of hyaluronic acid decreases and as a result, our skin becomes dry, fragile and weak. Teosyal's triple action formula fills, lifts and also rehydrates the skin by holding up to 1000 times its weight with water, moisturising and hydrating the surrounding tissues.

SIDE EFFECTS

Side effects include swelling, itching, redness, tenderness, and pain around the injection point. These normally resolve after several days but may last up to a week after lip augmentation. As with Botox, dermal fillers are not suitable for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Your practitioner will discuss all of the contra-indications with you during your assessment.
